Computek’s Nelspruit Office opens its doors
With the economic growth and activities this Province has shown over the past five years, and the opportunities that are continuously emanating in the ICT sector, IT companies should, despite challenging financial constraints, realise that South Africa has areas of growth opportunities in which businesses can take advantage of, said Harry Chakhala, CEO of Computek, at a function held in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga during February 2009. Mpumalanga shows rapid growth Chakhala said that since the Mpumalanga Province economic growth rate is above the national rate, the province has an obligation to invest in technologies that should support and fuel this economic boom. However in order for businesses to understand the economic issues better, and to take advantage, it is important to localise operations by establishing presence in the province. Computek’s decision to open an Office in Mpumalanga is core to meeting these goals. Computek believes that different sectors have different needs and priorities. For example the Public Sector which is core to IT spent in the province, will continue to invest in the ICT sector to enhance efficiency and improve service delivery, Chakhala said. 2010 Soccer = job opportunities Differ Mogale, 2010 Fifa World Cup Coordinator for Mombela Municipality in Mpumalanga, and guest of honour at Computek’s function, stated that approximately 60% of tourists coming to the 2010 World Cup soccer, will be visiting the Mpumalanga Province as part of their journey to South Africa. He said that the 2010 Fifa World Cup soccer has brought major skills development opportunities to the Province, which may lead to permanent jobs or even individuals starting their own businesses based on needs of tourists visiting the Province. Mogale further said that the World Cup will bring foreign investment to the Province, and apart from economic growth and development, it will lead to the delivery of improved services |
by Government and all municipalities in the Mpumalanga
Province.
